Revenge Tastes Best When Served Cold
You know something that's really bad for us? Revenge. It's not just bad, it's downright evil, but we don't really care about that, do we? After all, we're not trying to go through our lives taking hit after hit. Otherwise, what's the point of even trying to do better and rise up when you can't even get up off the ground? I'll answer that for you: there is no point. But, if we remain fixated on trying to get back at those who did us harm, we'll undeniably end up losing, whether your desired outcome unfolds. If you put so much of yourself into something that won't help you gain anything permanently, you'll lose a part of yourself. And this idea is acknowledged time and time again in anything that portrays vengeance. Revenge isn't worth it, we know that, but many of us still seem to seek it, even though we know it's technically bad. There are various motivations fueling someone to do it, but a big one is satisfaction.
There are multiple reasons for wanting to take revenge, petty or reasonable. Maybe that one person keeps stealing your food at lunch so you decide to add the spiciest hot sauce in the world and sit back as you enjoy watching them cry while searching for water, or maybe someone hurt you in a way so terrible, so cruel that you can't help but plan a series of events that will eventually lead to their imminent downfall. Whatever the motive is, there's always a rush of satisfaction that runs through you when you realize what you wanted happened. And it's that exact rush that leads us searching for vengeance repeatedly. It doesn't matter that the feeling is momentary, or the fact that you might be taking it too far. And adding the exhilaration with the truth that you're searching for vengeance to feel like you have control over your situation - which is what most of us like feeling - you can't help but search for the retribution that you feel is owed to you. So, even though it's bad for us, we'll still keep doing it for our satisfaction.
I like how well you answered to the prompt, and I like how you talked about revenge. You developed your piece really well! -sukruta

ReplyDeleteI like your conclusion that the main reason for revenge is satisfaction and I like the second image you added because you could also say that because ice cream brings satisfaction it is also revenge.
ReplyDeleteI liked your conclusion and how it connected with the main claim. You also followed the prompt really closely.
ReplyDeleteI like that you said that we do things for satisfaction because at the end of the day, even if we know it’s bad, we are getting something positive out of it.
ReplyDeleteI like how your conclusion built off of your claim. Your memes were funny.
